My Confession

Dearest internet,

I have a confession to make. Some of you might be aware of this, while others probably had no idea about this dirty little secret of mine. Here’s goes. Until today I was a… a…

Dialupper.

Yes I know, shocking isn’t it? It’s really not my fault, the exchange I’m on wasn’t broadband ready until now (fucking Telstra), so I had no choice in the matter, unless I moved (the thought did cross my mind). For years now I have been taunted by certain people who wear gay pants for not having high speed internet, ridiculed at every click because it would take me hours, if not days, on my dial up connection to downloaded the newest clip doing the rounds on blogs. But the day of reckoning has come, the day that I, Nikita Kashner, am no longer a dialupper.

Woo-fucking-hoo-yay-shit-yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Please excuse the exclamation point molestation)

Now If you don’t mind, I’m off to download anything I seeรขโ‚ฌยฆ because I can! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Your’s sincerely,
Nikita ‘broadbander’ Kashner

As I was trying to post earlier but wouldn’t let me, I was saying how it’s about time that you got rid of your 56gayer modem and got some speed, just make sure you leave some internet for the rest of us ๐Ÿ˜›

Well i guess dailup forces people to make nice, clean sites. Oh, now that you’ve got broadband, please don’t fall out of this good habit.

And you can celebrate your new brodband by downloading this video: http://mathsociety.com/csoul/russellpeters.wmv

welcome to broadband-land Kitta, but be warned though… I am told by DSLAM 8mbps Jocks on IRC that “Dude 1500/250 is so the new dial up you noob!” they make me feel like a 2nd class citizen with their 800+kbps speeds and their iiPhone accounts so yeah.. unless you too have those ridiculous technorati l33t speeds do you?

I am so unbelievably jealous! I am still a dialupper (hangs head in shame). Eircom have put it in the mountains here ‘to see if they could make it work’. It does, but why the hell did they give it to mountain people before me. They dont need it.
    I DO!!

Nic Seow, I would never dream of designing an un-clean site.

Nicole, tell me about it. I felt like I was living in the 90’s.

Roy, I will be getting a bigger one, my current one is full, so I need a new one anyway. And I’m at 256/64, I’m thinking of going up to 512/128 though.

Ricky, 1500/250 is about $100 per month here. I’ve been 56 for the last few years, so I wouldn’t care what any leet speakers say, it’s a huge fucking step up!

I hope you don’t have a silly download cap on that line. They suck, and only encourage you to download twice as much as you’re allowed.

Phil Sherry: no caps, I always go for unlimited.

Noodlez: I keep forgetting I have broadband, I’ll see a huge file and think “damnit, too big” and then it will hit me, “hang on, I have broadband now, I can download that!” It’s like Christmas.

Keg: the world of tomorrow is terribly fast.

Up with iiNet. I recently upgraded my account from 512 with 12Gb Peak/12Gb off peak, but I was barely using any of my bandwidth. So, for the same price I am now on 1500 with 5Gb peak/5Gb off peak.

I don’t think I could go back, heh.

Oh, and I live in the Southwest [yes, further south than Bunbury!] and we got broadband here ages ago. But it doesn’t matter where you live, just if your local station has DSLAM’s installed.
