Ultrasound of neck and F.N.A.
- Clinical Details: Four months right cervical node. Some symptoms of immune disorder. Clinically reactive node.
- Findings: The palpable nodule indicated by the patient does correspond to a reactive appearing lymph node at the cervical chain superiorly, measuring 4mm in short axis. It retains a normal echo pattern and shape. No pathologically enlarged lymph node is seen elsewhere at either anterior triangle of the neck. Both submandibular glands and the thyroid gland are normal in appearance.
Meaning it is a lymph node that is reactive and my thyroid glands are fine. Pathology reported that they didn’t get an ‘ideal sample’ of it, which is odd since the doctor passed the needle 3 bloody times, but the samples taken showed no signs of anything sinister. Unfortunately the doctor I saw today wasn’t the doctor I’ve been seeing since I got out of hospital, so he wasn’t sure where to go from here. He said to keep an eye on it and come back in a month so he can see how it’s going, if it hasn’t subsided by then and I’m still not feeling well they might do another biopsy..
I’m going to name it Nodey, because one must always name their reactive nodes. 🙂

Sorry to see that it appears nothing was desided to help you feel better. If only Doctors could be more proactive and a lot less reactive,like nodey, they wouldn’t be such a pain in the neck. Oh well, I guess thats the nature of the job.

Wot? Everyone calls their reactive node ‘Nodey’… it’s like Rex for a dog. At least call it Humbert Humbert or something a bit inexplicable.

If you are so inclined and have the money, I suggest consulting a naturopath, this seems to be the kinda stuff they know about with nodes correspondig to pressure points in accupuncture, yes its more needles but these are friendly needles you can hardly feel them 😀

I like this report, doctors on the other hand can be such f*ckwads, The only active node I have I named elmo…but that is another story. 😉

I had an enlarged node removed awhile ago, they did a biopsy on it and determined that it was benign (non-cancerous). Some time after that another node enlarged in the same spot, that one was removed too, also benign. And wouldn’t you know, a third node quickly enlarged in that same spot to take the place of its fallen comrades. The docs want to remove that one as well… well screw that, I’m keeping it this time, I don’t have infinite lymph nodes and they don’t grow back. I’ll name mine Herbert, good luck with Nodey.

Yeah, unfortunately there are so many things that can go wrong with a person that doctors don’t always know what they’re talking about… but they usually have so many books and info that they sould really at least have a look over something relevant for a minute before they tell you what’s up…
oh well. Nice to know it’s not gonna swlalow you up.
