Kill me now

A new meme, “songs that make me want to kill myself” is doing the rounds (Via Ernie who got it from Lia). So I thought I’d share some of the songs I hate with a passion.

Moonshadow – Cat Stevens

Yes, I’m bein’ followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow
Leapin and hoppin’ on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow
And if I ever lose my hands, lose my plough, lose my land,
Oh if I ever lose my hands, Oh well…. I won’t have to work no more.
And if I ever lose my eyes, if my colours all run dry,
Yes if I ever lose my eyes, Oh well…. I won’t have to cry no more.

A substitute teacher I had in 7th grade used to sing it when the class was being too loud, the way she sung it freaked me out back then, and it still has an effect on me to this day.

The whole ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ album – Meatloaf

Like a bat out of hell
I’ll be gone when the morning comes
When the night is over
Like a bat out of hell I’ll be gone gone gone
Like a bat out of hell I’ll be gone when the morning comes
When the day is done
And the sun goes down
And the moonlight’s shining through
Then like a sinner before the gates of heaven
I’ll come crawling on back to you

My fathers a Meatloaf fan, I am not, and every Saturday morning I’d be subjected to hours of “Like a bat out of hell” blasting out of the stereo while I sit in a corner, rocking myself slowly. Saturday afternoons was a time when I contemplated his name choice… “Why would he call himself meatloaf, he doesn’t seem meaty or loafy in any way?”.

The ‘Home and Away’ theme song

And from the very first moment I saw you
I never felt such emotion
I’m walking on air
Just to know (just to know)
You are there (you are there)
Hold me in your arms
Don’t let me go
I want to stay forever
Home and away
With you each day

I’m not a home and away fan either, I’m sorry, but it’s a horrible TV show. It’s not possible for that many people to die, nearly die or have that many dramas in one bloody coastal town. Whenever I hear its theme song I cringe and try to block the lyrics out of my head. “Let me be the one that you turn too, someone you can rely on, closer each day home and away” – Kill me now.

AHHH! The song that gets my hairs on end is Landslide by…Fleetwood Crap…I like the remakes by Smashing Pumpkins and Dixie Chicks but Stevie Nix crooning on that song with her falsetto is glass shattering chalkboard scraping mind numbingly bad

Also any pop diva song is trashcan worthy as well…from Celin to Mariah to Beyonce. I am a lover of all kinds of music from country to polka from rap to punk but there has got to be a limit to r&b crap out there.

    Signed,

    The landslide brought it down

P.S. Meatloaf is SOOO loafy! Yucky and greasy! Even ketchup wouldn’t help him.

I’m sorry, i cannot stand by idly while Cat Stevens is so unfairly abused. Granted, Moonshadow is not his best song… but he is a staple component of your musical education, and should not be sullied by a freaky 7th grade substitute.
Reccomendation that you seek therapy for this teacher’s damaging impact on your psyche so that you can move on and learn to love what deserves to be loved.

I am the same with RAP music. Every time I hear RAP music I want to take an M16 and shoot the radio and the owner. I believe the Raper writing the rap Crap has IQ of 40, that’s how I feel about to days music it’s 95% CRAP and “maybe 5%” of to days music is good!!!

“Rock on” with the good rock music of the 60’s and 70’s Your Dad and mom remember the good music of then.

who of you remember that song ” Rock on” and who did it? any one know?

I thought you were Miss Australia, and that’s why you got to have the monkey on your blog? Now I find it’s all been a hoax perpetrated by a spirit broken by bad FM. What a deplorable childhood. Mercy. No jazz?

I don’t suppose your parents have any idea of the damage wrought? Put Mose Allison on your wish list, Miles Davis, Mingus – or monkey emanuensis self destruction is imminent.

Meatloaf was a single guy that sang from 1976- to 1983 i think.
the funny thing is, he look like a meatloaf, maybe that where the name came from!!

no he was OK, most of the girls liked him, he was more or less a girl type of singer. that is, the girls like him more then the guys.

he was no black sabbath!! that the one I got into back then or sex pistols. hahhhhh how our taste change.

Those songs sound pretty bad. There is some dumb British soap opera called “Coronation Street”, I dunno if you get it in Australia….. but we do unfortunately in Canada, and the song drives me up the wall when ever it comes on…. There is no singing, but its just terrible music (the instruments sound whiny (I think its a trumpet actually))…..*shudder*

Katie, I don’t think I could ever love a song like ‘moonshadow’, even without the mental torment my 7th grade teacher put me through by singing it.

Karen, I googled the lyrics. :p

Kris, my mother watches Coronation Street, so I know all to well the evil that is the Coronation Street theme song!
