In response to a comment by jeally, the UK (amazingly) does have cheap thumb drives - you have to go online for them though.
For example, Aria (http://aria.co.uk/specials.asp) has a 1Gb thumb drive for £47 (~AUD$121). This is minus the postage cost, but it’s still cheap considering that everything else here in the UK is so extortionately priced.
Personally, I think I’ll gamble and wait for the January sales to come along and see if the prices fall any further. It’s a risk, though - it’ll depend on how much you need the item!
Disclaimer: I have no affiliations with the company cited above, and only used them as an example. I’ve also not bought anything from them either, so cannot comment on their quality of goods, service or sense of humour.

digicor.com.au have those USB drives for a lot cheaper, IF you’re a valid business with a ABN/ACN for a lot cheaper than what Abacrap are selling them for.

Ok, I don’t think people are getting the joke here… There’s a typo, GB is meant to be MB!

LOL! I can’t believe people are making the same mistake ‘Abacus’ did. They think this is 512 MB! Perhaps you should have said “Gigabytes” and “Megabytes” because MB and GB differ by only a letter.
